Prosecutor Won't Seek Charges In Baby's Death

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) - The Hamilton County prosecutor says he will not seek charges against a southwest Ohio mother whose 11-month-old daughter was found dead in a minivan last month.

Prosecutor Joe Deters says he will have a press conference Thursday to announce his decision not to prosecute 34-year-old Jodie Edwards.

Edwards left her daughter, Jenna, in a sweltering minivan for eight hours on Aug. 20 while she was at work. An autopsy report showed the baby died of hyperthermia and her temperature reached 110 degrees.

Jodie Edwards is a teacher at Cincinnati Christian University.

No charges were filed last year in a similar case in nearby Clermont County, where a school administrator left her toddler in a hot car.
