In the Dark: Whipping Winds Knock Out Power To Hundreds Of Thousands

UPDATE: Cleveland, OH - The lingering effects of Ike roared through Northeast Ohio Sunday night.

Since last night, First Energy reports upwards of 1M customers in Ohio and Pennsylvania lost power.

At least 500,000 statewide remained without electricity at 7AM.

Here are the power outages as of 3:00PM on Monday:

  • Stark County 60,000 customers
  • Tuscarawas 21,567 customers
  • Wayne 11,000 customers

First Energy says this is the biggest damaging weather event in recent history.

They have all available crews working on restoring power but it still could be several days before everybody is back up and running.

There are countless trees and branches down and better than 2,000 wires down.

There is no way - at this point to - say when a certain area will be restored.
