Canton Police Shoot, Kill Man In Drug Case

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Police shot and killed an ex-convict who they say brandished a weapon as officers went to his apartment in a drug investigation.

The man, 44-year-old Darryl Ross, apparently had just emerged from the shower when officers arrived Thursday night.

Police Chief Dean McKimm said the man brandished a gun at officers serving a search warrant over complaints of illegal drug sales. The man's sister said there was no drug dealing at the apartment.

Ross had served prison time twice on weapons charges. In 1989, he was wounded and his mother was killed in a Thanksgiving Day gunfight over drugs.
