3 Injured When Thrown From Buggy In Crash

HOMERVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A pickup truck slammed into the left rear corner of a horse-drawn buggy Wednesday, throwing the buggy driver and her two children into the roadway and injuring them.

The pickup driver, Jack Kramer, 35, of Amherst, who escaped injury, failed to keep a safe distance behind the buggy, according to the State Highway Patrol. No charges were immediately filed.

Fannie Hershberger, 35, of nearby Spencer, and 3-year-old Samuel Hershberger, were treated at Lodi Community Hospital. Anna Hershberger, 1, was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland in critical condition.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Ohio 301 near this Amish community in Medina County 40 miles southwest of Cleveland.
