Tragic End: Suspect Kills Self After Kidnapping Woman From Work

Boston Heights, OH - An all-out manhunt has reached a tragic end.

The 52-year-old man suspected of kidnapping a woman he knew and holding her hostage is found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident began around 1AM in Akron, when Donald Harris kidnapped the 26-year-old from her workplace.

Harris then took his hostage to her Copley apartment which she shares with a roommate.

At some point, the victim's roommate woke up, realized something was wrong and jumped out a 2nd floor window to call 9-1-1.

When Harris realized she left, he and the victim fled in the victim's car before police arrived.

When police got to the scene, they evacuated the adjoining apartments. The SWAT team went into the apartment but found it empty.

Police then broadcast the woman's license plate and around 5AM, the car was spotted in Boston Heights.

Police tried to pull the car over but Harris bailed out of the car and ran into the woods.

The woman stayed in the car and was rescued by police unharmed.

Officials then started combing through the heavily wooded area of Boston Heights and discovered the suspect's body a short time later.
