Deer Crashes Into Ohio Hospital Building

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Hospitals are used to human emergencies, but it was a deer that raised alarm at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

Thursday morning, an eight-point buck crashed through a window on a building housing a dialysis unit and other medical offices.

Officials initially feared the deer had gone into the emergency room of the hospital itself, not far away. Police Sgt. Frank Love says a frightened animal running about could have posed a hazard to anyone on life-support.

In the other building, the deer stayed out of busy areas and wound up in a small coat room. Dan Kramer of the state Wildlife Division says the seriously injured animal was removed and later euthanized.
