Canton, OH - The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Canton Post is currently investigating a vehicle traffic crash which occurred Thursday night on Baywood Street in Paris Township in Stark County. The crash resulted in the death of a 34-year-old male.

Shaun D. Morrison of Minerva, was traveling west on Baywood Street in a 1998 Ford Ranger when he traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a series of large trees. Morrison was not wearing the vehicle's safety belt at the time of the crash and he sustained fatal injuries.

Speed is believed to be the reason why the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway. Alcohol was a factor in the crash - the crash remains under investigation.

Morrison's death represents the 17th traffic fatality so far in 2008 for the Canton Post area.
