Locals Not Surprised By Random Shooting

ELYRIA, Ohio - Police are looking for a man who they say shot a woman on a busy downtown street, Action News reported.

The suspect shot 33-year-old Sharon Dockery, of Lorain, in the stomach on Broad Street just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

People who frequent the area said that they're not surprised by the violence. They said that when the bars close, the crowds leaving get out of control at about 2:30 a.m., and that's pretty much the norm.

"They start getting rowdy and arguing and fighting with you," witness Mark Royer said. "That's about what happens here on Broad Street."

Elyria Police said that they are looking for 31-year-old Andre Wright -- the man who Dockery said shot her. Wright has been in trouble before, charged with domestic violence for beating the mother of his child.

Dockery, who was in stable condition, was recovering well from one gunshot wound.
