Ohio Woman Gets 10 Years For Attack Over $5

CINCINNATI (AP) - A Cincinnati woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for beating her 93-year-old neighbor with a vacuum cleaner over $5.

Police say 58-year-old Dora Nance was looking for money to buy drugs when she beat Florence Homes unconscious using a vacuum cleaner and a table leg. The attack in May left Homes with broken bones and cuts.

Nance was sentenced Monday on her guilty plea to aggravated robbery. Prosecutors agreed to drop felonious assault charges.

Police said Nance previously had borrowed money from her neighbor and beat Homes when she refused to lend more money.

They say Nance then stole $5 from Homes' purse and used it to buy cigarettes when no one would sell her crack cocaine for that amount.
