West Nile Suspected In Northern, Southwest Ohio Deaths

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Health officials announced on Thursday that two more Ohioans might have died from West Nile virus.

The Ohio Department of Health said that the state is now awaiting federal confirmation of the virus in a total of four deaths.

The most recent deaths this week were of an 81-year-old man from Erie County in northern Ohio and an 80-year-old woman from Clinton County in southwest Ohio.

Clinton County health officials said that tests from the woman were sent for confirmation on Monday while she was hospitalized, but then she died on Wednesday morning.

Erie County officials said that they're trying to find where the man traveled recently to see how he might have become infected.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that it takes several weeks for lab results to come back.

The first two deaths were in Cincinnati and Cleveland.
