Ohio Principal: Suspected Scammers Just Good Kids

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) - Officials in northwest Ohio say what they suspected was a scam has turned out to be the work of some enterprising but misguided high school students.

Principal Craig Kupferberg says Findlay High School had received some calls about young men going door-to-door asking for donations for locker rooms upgrades at the hockey facility.

No such fundraising had been authorized, so Kupferberg at first thought it was a scam.

But the principal said Thursday that high school administrators did some checking and found the fundraisers were, in his words, "overly rambunctious students who were just trying to do the right thing."

Kupferberg said the money would be given back to the donors.
