Ohio Man Gets 18 Years For Killing Friend

CINCINNATI (AP) - A Cincinnati man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for fatally shooting a friend with a shotgun that the same friend had given as a Christmas gift.

William Kues (KEEZ) pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault yesterday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. The plea allowed Kues to avoid a murder trial and possible life sentence for the January death of 38-year-old Richard Christensen.

The men lived in Keus' grandmother's home in nearby Green Township. Prosecutors said they were friends who had a history of fighting after nights of drinking together.

They said Christensen gave Keus a shotgun as a Christmas gift. Three weeks later, after a fight, Keus used that shotgun to shoot Christensen three times.
