Woman Confesses To Killing Stepfather

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland woman apologized in court after she confessed to killing her own stepfather, Action News reported.

"I would like to tell the family and everybody that I'm so sorry for everything," accused murderer Tammy Mylam said. "If I could change it and go back to the way things were, I would."

Mylam broke down as she issued that apology in a Cleveland courtroom on Monday. Despite her tears, the judge sentenced her to 10 years in prison.

Mylam admitted to helping two men smother her stepfather, 74-year-old Lionel Leythrow. Leythrow was found dead in his west side Cleveland home in May of 1997.

At first investigators thought that Leythrow died of natural causes. It wasn't until years later that Mylam was accused of murder.
