AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A black police detective filed a complaint with the U.S. Justice Department, accusing the city of Akron of discriminating against minorities.
Det. Greg Harrison (pictured, right) asked the Justice Department to investigate the Akron Police Department's track record of hiring, promoting, disciplining and transferring minorities. He filed a similar complaint in April.
Akron's Office of Labor Relations is expected to investigate his most recent complaint sometime in the next few weeks.
City officials said that they have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars investigating Harrison's earlier complaint.
