CLEVELAND - A robber who shot a grocer on the Cleveland's west side in January of 2001 will spend 28 years to life in prison for murder, Action News reported.
Tears flowed in the courtroom while Kareem Ali was sentenced on Friday.
"I want to say I'm sorry," Ali said. "I never meant to hurt anybody. I never meant to hurt my mother. I never meant to do what happened."
A single tear slowly rolled down Ali's cheek while he apologized to the family of Sam Lababidi. Ali said that he's been living in horror ever since the shooting at the L&M Superette on West 58th Street.
