CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Cleveland Animal Protection League said the facility is on standby for dogs and cats from South Carolina for Hurricane Florence.

Transports systems are in the works and other shelters are on standby.

Officials said the goal is to empty shelters in the hurricane’s path so dogs and cats found after the hurricane have a place to go until the families pick them up.

Hurricane warnings have been issued for North Carolina and South Carolina on Tuesday, this could be the biggest storm to hit the Carolina area in decades.
