CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Taking time for yourself might just be the answer to reducing holiday stress.
“Stress reduction just happens just by showing up on your mat,” owner of Cleveland Yoga Tammy Schneider said before leading a yoga class at her Beachwood location.
There is no shortage of stress during the holiday season, from worries about money to a lack of time, more than half of Americans report added stress according to the American Psychological Association. Movement and exercise is a solution to relieving stress, however most people choose sedentary activities during the holidays just when the stress is increasing.
“Three times a week will change your body,” Schneider said. “Five times a week will change your life.”
Grant Davis practices yoga once a day, “It (yoga) forces you to slow down, unplug and take some deep breaths.” Davis came to yoga Thanksgiving morning, before he had 20 people over house, he noted.
Schneider believes you can come to a “place of peace” automatically by just coming into a room where you can sit, and breathe.
