CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - It’s been a busy year at WOIO and WUAB, and it’s been an exciting one, too.
On WOIO, we’ve added new local programming in Sunny Side Up, our 9 a.m. discussion show. On Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire, we’ve also added shows like the 4:30 p.m. Unwired news, Overtime, Taste Buds and other local programming that cord-cutters just can’t get from Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime.
That quest for more local programming is what I want to talk about, as this week we announced the addition of Cleveland State Vikings basketball to WUAB-CW 43.
For years in Cleveland, WUAB was the home of the Indians and the Cavaliers – in fact, we still show a few Cavs game each season.
It’s exciting to add Cleveland State to our schedule. The Vikings came within a game of going to the NCAA tournament last season, and second-year coach Dennis Felton is clearly building a program that the entire area can be proud of.
In the end, that’s what matters: we’re here to support the area. bring local stories to you and bring local events to you.
2018 saw us add more local programming to our stations on-air and online, and hopefully, we’ll be able to do even more in 2019.
I hope you’ll make time to catch some Cleveland State basketball--go Vikings!
