CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Parma man who pleaded guilty to murdering his sister was sentenced Tuesday morning.
Mark Shankle, 55, must serve 25 years in prison before the possibility for parole.
Investigators say Shankle killed his 55-year-old sister, Vicky Zabala, inside their home on Torrington Avenue in February.
He was arrested days later in Buffalo, NY driving Zabala’s stolen car and extradited back to Northeast Ohio to face an aggravated murder charge.
During Tuesday’s sentencing, Shankle’s attorney said a “lifetime of heavy drinking” is the reason for being in this circumstance.
“I have too much shame,” Shankle said while pleading for forgiveness to his relatives in the courtroom. “This is just inexcusable.”
