LeMaster was born with a severe visual impairment. Over the summer, he started using the OrCam MyEye 2. The device uses artificial vision technology and connects to the frame of glasses. It takes a picture of printed text, processes it and reads it aloud in real-time. The OrCam can read books, barcodes, labels, menus, currency- anything printed on a surface.
Wake Up Cleveland got to see LeMaster demonstrate the technology in July.
At that time the community was preparing for a fundraiser to help LeMaster buy the device which cost about $4,500. The fundraiser was successful.
Rafi Fischer with OrCam Technologies said the company recently approached Harvey’s team wanting to share the benefits of OrCam and the positive impact it has had on people like Dylan.
Fischer said OrCam recently released new software updates which includes voice commands and Bluetooth connectivity.
