EUCLID, OH (WOIO) - According to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Get Ready Set Grow Preschool, one of the two daycare facilities Aniya Garrett attended prior to her death, will close its doors March 31, 2019.
The closing was worked out as a part of a agreement with the state agency.
The agreement also prohibits the owners from applying for a license to open a new child care business for four years.
On March 11, 2018, Euclid paramedics and Euclid police responded to a 911 call from Aniya’s mother, Sierra Day, about her sick child who stopped breathing.
Aniya was taken to Euclid Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to the indictment, she was malnourished, had bruises to her face, and burns on her body. It also revealed she was tortured and restrained for periods of time.
Deonte Lewis and Sierra Day were charged in her death.
