CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of northern Ohio.
From First Alert Meteorologist Jeff Tanchak:
It’s crazy how warm it was early this morning.
A cold front is forecast to track through this afternoon, however, and that will create the big change for us tonight and tomorrow.
Rain will be in the area pretty much all day today. It will be a wind driven rain.
There is some instability in the atmosphere so a few thunderstorms could develop as the front tracks through late morning and early afternoon.
We will have to monitor this potential. A good quarter to half inch of rain is forecast to come down today.
The wind will be strong this evening with wind gusts over 40 mph.
Much colder air builds in.
We do think lake effect snow bands develop overnight.
More lake effect snow will be in the area tomorrow.
We have an ALERT DAY tomorrow because of the wind, temperature drop, and lake snow.
Areas east of Cleveland could get around a half foot of snow by Thursday morning.
