CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Police believe multiple suspects were responsible for shooting a 17-year-old Maple Heights boy, who was answering a knock at the door.
Officers responded to the shooting on Reddington Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators learned that the teen boy was shot multiple times at the house while he was visiting relatives.
Paramedics rushed the teen to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.
Detectives say the boy was shot without any provocation. Multiple suspects are believed to be involved.
Maple Heights Police told Cleveland 19 they don’t believe the neighborhood is in any danger.
“You can walk up and down the street and nobody messes with you. Everybody says it never happens here. It can happen here,” said resident Stephanie Street.
Still, they need the public’s help in tracking down the suspects who may have taken off in a dark-colored car captured on surveillance video. It’s still unclear if that home was targeted.
Anyone with information regarding the deadly shooting should contact the Maple Heights Police Department at 216-587-9624.
