WOODMERE VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) - The Woodmere Village Police Department swore in Officer Revan at the January Village Council meeting on Wednesday night, which was also National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

Named after a Star Wars character, Officer Revan is the Woodmere Village Police Department’s first K-9.

One could say Officer Revan was born to serve considering his birthday was on Veteran’s Day.

According to Woodmere Village officials, Revan will assist police efforts with searching for drugs and explosives, crime scene investigations, locating missing people, and defending officers.

Patrolman Christopher Dotson will be Officer Revan’s handler.

Multiple K-9 officers from neighboring police departments came to celebrate Revan, including Bedford, Cleveland Heights, Lyndhurst, Shaker Heights, South Euclid, and Strongsville.

Woodmere Village Police said:

“A very special Thank-You to everyone who came out to support our first ever K9 Unit, and to all those who helped to make this dream become a reality. Congratulations Officer Dotson and K9 Revan. We wish you all the best as you work hard training together and working together in the coming year and may you always keep each other safe.”
