Medical Examiner releases name of victim from Saturday’s fatal shooting on Cleveland’s East Side

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A man was shot and killed on Cleveland’s East Side on Saturday morning, according to Cleveland Police Sergeant Reginald Lanton.

Sergeant Lanton said the incident happened around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 12 on the 1200 block of East 185th Street.

Police said a 35-year-old Deon Taylor was shot in the stomach and was transported to a local hospital, he later died at the hospital.

Authorities said officers found out Taylor was with another man to make a purchase at a gas station.

The man accompanying the victim was arguing with two other men at the gas station, according to police.

Taylor tried to intervene and was shot, according to investigators.

Police said one of the suspects entered a car and left.

Investigators said the shooter left on foot.

The suspects have not been identified.
