Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad announces summer dates for popular dinner cruises

PENINSULA, OH (WOIO) - The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad announced the dates for the Dinner on the Train series which is scheduled to return in June.

Tickets for the summer dinner series will go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m.

The dinner cruises have become wildly popular for the scenic railroad. The trips take place every Friday from June 7 to October 25.

Passengers will be able to board the vintage California Zephyr Solarium and the Silver Lariat train cars and enjoy a four-course meal. A complimentary bar is available for guests and wine is provided during the courses.

On Sept. 20, 2018 the CVSR acquired four new railroad cars, including two Vista Dome cars that provide a 360 degree view from the domed observation seating.

“Dinner on the Train has been received very well, so we added more dates to accommodate the demand,” said CVSR President & CEO Joe Mazur. “To be able to provide an experience of this caliber in an unparalleled setting is remarkable; we’re honored to do so while sharing the rich history of our recently acquired California Zephyr cars."

The summer meals will be prepared by Nomad Culinary, menus will change bi-weekly and include a vegetarian and vegan option.

“We’re looking forward to sharing our food style with passengers in such a unique environment, such as the California Zephyr cars,” said Head Chef Chris Kafcsak. “We are constantly inspired by our guests to evolve and create new recipes and are looking forward to serving guests while embarking on a historic railway adventure.”

Dinner on the Train tickets for June 7 – July 26 will go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m.

The dining excursion departs from Rockside Station at 7:30 p.m.

Guests may board at 7 p.m. to enjoy a cocktail, appetizers and view the recently acquired 1940’S California Zephyr train cars.

Passengers can expect the train ride to last two hours.

Tickets are $115 per person for seating in the Vista Dome observation car and $105 per person for first class seating in the lower lounge dining section.

Ticket includes complimentary bar service, two-hour train ride and four-course dinner.
