Missing Canton man found dead in creek was registered sex offender, records show

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Canton police say a man who was reported missing on March 11 has been found dead in Nimishillen Creek.

Officers responded to the creek along the 3500 block of Central Avenue SE just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday after being notified of a reported body in the creek.

Police and firefighters recovered the body from the creek and identified it as 40-year-old Edward Hudak. He was reported missing out of Canton earlier in the week on Monday.

Criminal records show that Hudak was a registered sex offender. He was convicted of rape in 2005.

The cause of Hudak’s death is still under investigation by Canton police and the Stark County coroner.

Anyone with information about Hudak’s disappearance and death is asked to call investigators at 330-489-3144.
