NWS confirms tornadoes touched down in Stark County during Thursday’s storms (photos)

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - After surveying the damage from Thursday night’s storms, the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado moved through the area west of Canton.

On Friday evening, they confirmed a second tornado ripped through Stark County, topping trees, a silo and barn.

The NWS says the tornadoes touched down shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, one of which tore through Navarre and moved northeast toward Perry Township; a path of approximately four miles.

Estimated maximum wind speeds of the tornadoes were 80 miles per hour, according to NWS officials.
