SOLON, OH (WOIO) - The Schwebel Baking Company announced Monday that it will close its Solon bakery, and cut 204 jobs.
According to company spokeswoman Lori Mickholtzick, the Youngstown-based bread and roll purveyor will rely on its two other Ohio bakeries to meet demand in the Buckeye State.
“Decisions like this are always difficult and not easy. The employees in Solon will be given the opportunity to apply for jobs that are open in its other manufacturing and distribution facilities,” said Mickholtzick in a prepared statement.
Roughly 1,000 Schwebel’s jobs remain in Ohio.
