CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Already missing shortstop Francisco Lindor and second baseman Jason Kipnis, the Indians could not afford to lose another starting infielder, especially to Jose Ramirez. The third baseman was carted off the field on Sunday after fouling a ball off himself. He was not able to put pressure on his leg and had to be helped onto the cart,
X-rays did not reveal a broken bone.
There is no timeline for his return at this point. The team opens the regular season on Thursday against Minnesota. With injuries already sustained by Lindor and Kipnis the team signed veteran infielder Brad Miller for depth.
