CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - It might as well be a holiday across Northeast Ohio: swap out April Fools’ with Opening, and you’ve got yourself a pretty good Day.

Thousands came out to Progressive Field to watch the Cleveland Indians take on the Chicago White Sox.

Just a short drive downtown and you saw Cleveland Indians fans gearing up for another season.

Both the Sox and the Tribe came into the game at 1-2.

Anticipation has been building for months after a sour end to last year when the Tribe was beat 3-0 in the ALDS.

One fan traveled as far as Iceland to make it to his 12th straight home-opener.

The Indians scored the first run of the evening in the bottom of the sixth, after a single from Carlos Santana. Yet that lead was quickly erased as the Sox went up 3-1 in the top of the eighth. However, Cleveland’s bats heated up and the Tribe went back on top 5-3.

And, in other news: Ketchup took home the victory in the hot dog derby.

The Indians' next matchup will be against the White Sox on Wednesday, at 1:10 p.m.
