Employees with Burton Scot Contractors said the driver hit a construction truck that was positioned to block a worker operating a micro surface grinding machine.

Update: “Burton Scot Contractors” employees tell me a driver on I-90 WB around 1:30 a.m. ran into their construction zone. The driver hit a construction truck and a piece of equipment called a micro surface grinding machine. A subcontractor was working that piece of equipment— but is okay according to the Burton Scot employees. The employee was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. I’m still working to get info. on the driver who ran into this zone.

The man operating that machine was Neil Gilreath, a subcontractor with DOT Diamond Core Drilling for the last eight years.

Gilreath told Cleveland 19 by phone, “I turned and looked to the right, and all I saw was headlights right when I heard the boom and that’s when he slammed right into me. People don’t pay attention. These guys (construction workers) out here just like me-- you wanna go home to your family at the end of the night. You don’t want to end up a news headline.”

Gilreath was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, but he didn’t appear to suffer any serious injuries.
