SUMMIT COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Geronimo, the shelter dog that captured the hearts of Northeast Ohio animal lovers, has finally found his “furever” home.
The Humane Society of Summit County went viral after posting a photo of Geronimo on Facebok when he reached his 1,000th day at the shelter on Oct. 20.
Then 145 days later, the humane society announced that Geronimo had been adopted.
However, the new owner returned him back to the shelter just five days later.
On Friday, the humane society announced that two of the shelter’s “most dedicated dog volunteers who have worked with Geronimo over the years generously stepped forward to help their favorite shelter dog on his journey to adoption.”
The two were originally Geronimo’s foster family, but “as their bond grew stronger, they all realized though that Geronimo was already where he was meant to be. He would no longer need to wait for his forever home. He was already there."
