Local candy company are preparing for their busiest season. Plus Cleveland makes an impression on The Strip.
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - You’d think that Halloween is the busiest holiday for candy companies. Not so, according to the owners of two local candy companies Malley’s Chocolates and b.a. Sweetie Candy Company.
This week on Taste Buds we’ll talk about the staggering volume of chocolate bunnies (100,000 of one size alone!), Peeps and novelty candies like Pez dispensers that Clevelanders buy for Easter baskets.
The team at Malley’s has been working double shifts every day since Feb. 15, according to Dan Malley.
And Tom Scheiman says they’ve added additional checkout lines and staff to handle the volume of customers who will be flooding their warehouse between now and Easter.
Also on this week’s show, I’ll share my experience in Las Vegas, where I went to check out Cleveland’s footprint on the Las Vegas food scene. Iron Chef Michael Symon recently opened two restaurants in the Palms Casino and Resort, Mabels BBQ and Sara’s.
Catch me, Chef Matt Mytro of Flour in Moreland Hills and Flour Pasta Company and Chef David Kocab of The Black Pig in Ohio City) every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. You can chime in live through our station Facebook Live broadcast, to ask questions or comment on the show.
