MT. ADAMS, OH (FOX19) - A semi-tractor trailer hauling heavy machinery flipped off the northbound Interstate 471 overpass to Third Street in Mt. Adams early Wednesday, trapping two people and closing ramps and streets several hours, Cincinnati police say.
Officers and fire crews responded to the area just before 3 a.m.
According to police, 53-year-old Vincento Pinto was driving the semi north when he failed to negotiate to curve to Fort Washington Way.
The vehicle fell approximately 30 feet.
Salete Bianchi, 55, was a passenger in the sleeper berth.
Firefighters worked for nearly an hour to free both Pinto and Bianchi, reporting both were extricated by 4 a.m.
They were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Pinto sustained serious injuries. Bianchi sustained minor injuries, police said.
Cleanup is expected to take several hours.
Several roads and ramps initially were shut down in the area.
Excessive speed is a factor in the crash.
Impairment is not a factor.
