15 Cuyahoga County residents have died and 1,200+ were hospitalized due to flu-related illnesses this season

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County health officials announced Thursday there was another flu-related death this week.

According to officials, this brings the total number of flu-related deaths in Cuyahoga County for the 2018-19 season to 15.

Officials have not released any information on the latest victim, but past victims have included a 66-year-old Cleveland man, an 86-year-old Broadview Heights woman, a 65-year-old Strongsville woman and a 77-year-old Westlake woman.

According to data released by health officials, there were 29 confirmed cases of flu associated hospitalizations reported this week, and 1,272 confirmed hospitalizations reported so far this flu season.
