Dorsey: Duke still “vital part of this offense”

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - John Dorsey isn’t in the business of giving away secrets, so when the Browns General Manager sat down for his ‘Draft Talk’ on Thursday, we didn’t expect many specifics, which was fine, because more than a few questions concerned two running backs who are already here. One who won’t be playing for a while, Kareem Hunt, and one who wants out, Duke Johnson.

“I continually keep telling you all that Duke is a very talented football player", Dorsey said. "We see a lot of stuff for Duke moving forward into the future with regards to him. He is a member of this organization moving forward.

"He understands the role that he is going to play within this offense. That is what is important because Duke, as everybody knows, is a very talented playmaker, and I look forward to seeing him on the field on Sundays.”

That’s if Duke is still a member of the Browns a week from Saturday. Would a Draft Day trade really surprise you?

Then there’s Kareem, who’s getting all of his work in now, before he serves his 8-game suspension.

“I think Kareem has done one heck of a job", Dorsey said. "He has been working his fanny off in the building. I could not be happier with how hard he is working in the building. I could not be happier with how hard he is working out of the building. That is all you can ask of him. He is committed to doing the proper steps here in getting this thing moving forward.”

Dorsey has 8 picks heading into the Draft. And one player who’s yet to be in the building. Duke hasn’t made it to the voluntary workouts. The mandatory ones? We’ll see. Some answers just aren’t available yet.

″You all want to talk about the Draft?", Dorsey asked with a chuckle.
