Cleveland condo owners have had it with contractor delays

Disgruntled customers of Assurance Exteriors take to Facebook.

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Sloppy work around a utility box, siding no longer attached, flashing around windows not fitting properly, buckled trim, all obviously flawed at the Landings in Avon Lake.

“When we were having storms there was flooding in our basements because downspout were off for 6 months during this process. It was supposed to be 8 weeks and it ended up being 6 months to get it fixed.” said Amy Herkenhoff, president of the condo association that contracted the siding job.

“We didn’t do gutters we just took em down and put em back up.” said Assurance owner Tom Cutura when asked about the job.

Cutura had no reply to the comment “Yeah, but they’re put back up sloppily.”

“It was definitely bad subs on this one.” said Cutura of the $105,000 job.

He focused on the Avon Lake job, but replies to Amy’s facebook post are from many other jobs, and many of the 2800 postings don’t speak fondly of their experiences.

“I don’t have enough guys and I you know, I’m just trying. Is that because they’re not always paid. I mean listen obviously I have financial problems too. I try to pay my guys as best I can. It’s just outta hand,” Cutura said.

Peg Kolofer’s broom closet is half what she wanted and cabinets had to be ordered repeatedly to get a match.

Cutura said it’s the Facebook posts and not his service that’s the problem.

We asked what the status of Assurance Exteriors is, “We’re closing it down but we’re still honoring warranties.” Catura blamed the Facebook campaign for his problems.

For the record a worker arrived today to begin repairs.
