Mentor man pleads guilty to murdering his girlfriend

PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) - A Mentor man has pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend last May.

Russell Fritz pleaded guilty in front of Lake County Common Pleas Court Judge John O’Donnell late Thursday.

Fritz called Mentor police on May 17, 2018 and admitted he just killed Kristen Laux, 35, during a domestic argument.

Fritz said Laux bit him, so he started assaulting her.

Officers responded to the couple’s home in the 8300 block of South Villa Marina Court and found Laux suffering from a fatal stab wound.

Fritz immediately surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

He will be sentenced on May 15.
