Friends celebrate life of murder victim in Twinsburg

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - This holiday weekend is particularly hard for one Northeast Ohio community.

Last week, police say a Twinsburg firefighter took his own life after first killing his fiancé, Olivia Hamey.

Her friends called her Liv.

They said Liv celebrated her birthday the day before she died.

She’ll never know, but all of her friends had planned a surprise party for her at an Akron bar that weekend.

That obviously didn’t happen, so now on Easter weekend, her friends and family plan to gather at the Pegasus Pub to not celebrate her birthday, but instead her life.

“We’re just honoring her life now at this point,” her friend said. "Liv liked to live. “That was her motto, ‘can I Liv?’

"She lived her life to the fullest always- being the best mom, working hard. That’s something that I really admired about her,” her friend told 19 News.

Last week, police found the mother of two shot to death in the basement of a Twinsburg home.

Officers believe her fiancé killed her, before taking his own life.

It came as a shock to many.

“I just wanted people to know that she was a beautiful person, and she will never be forgotten,” her friend told 19 News. “I love her. I adored her. I admired her. I looked up to her, and I’m just really going to miss her.”

The party is planned for Saturday night.

It’s also partially a fundraiser.

Liv’s friends says any funds that are collected will go to her kids.
