MANSFIELD, OH (WOIO) - A chihuahua is recovering after being shot multiple times in Mansfield.
His owner is now asking why anyone would want to do this do a dog that weighs less than 10 pounds.
“Why would you ever want to harm? He’s just an innocent animal. He can’t defend himself,” asked Megan Rose.
The Mansfield homeowner still can’t figure out why anyone would want to hurt her best friend, Bugsy - just moments after he had been let outside.
“My dog was outside going to the restroom. I heard shots fired,” recalled Rose.
She rushed outside to see what was going on after those shots were fired. It was at that point she saw Bugsy crawling up to the doorpost covered in blood.
“I just opened the door and my little dog was laying there just covered in blood. I did what anybody would do. I picked him up and I held him and I tried to comfort him,” cried Rose.
Bugsy had been shot a total of three times. One bullet even went through neck, exiting out of his chest,"
“He has several broken bones in his neck and back alone,” added Rose.
Now the little guy is facing a long hard road to recovery but Rose plans on being there every step of the way.
“I’m just doing everything that I can for him. That’s my main goal because he deserves it. He didn’t deserve what happened to him and now he deserves to be taken care of,” Rose concluded.
