CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Moxie, the Restaurant, an institution in the Cleveland restaurant scene, announced Monday that they will close their doors this weekend.

The Beachwood restaurant has been in business for 22 years.

The restaurant is known for contributing to the careers and reputations of renown chefs like Doug Katz, Jonathan Bennett, Karen Small, Eric Williams, Tim Bando, and John Kolar. Many others began and developed their careers there.

“However, realizing the need for something new, the owners recognized that the life expectancy for Moxie’s concept was near,” a statement from the restaurant, and owner Brad Friedlander reads.

The location will shutdown as of April 26, but will reopen again soon under a new name and new concept.

The new concept will include a completely renovated dining room, bar and patio.

“Moxie, the Restaurant would like to thank all the guests who made Moxie a staple in Beachwood for over 22 years and look forward to seeing everyone again when its new concept opens in June, 2019,” the statement goes on to say.

No word yet on what the new concept is or what kind of dining experience it will deliver.

Red Restaurant Group, which owns Moxie, filed for Chapter 11 in October 2018.
