Fundraiser for Greater Cleveland Film Festival attracts Hollywood talent

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The Greater Cleveland Film Festival will host a fundraiser Thursday, April 25 to support their 8th annual festival in Sept.

According to GCUFF, the event will take place at the Capitol Theatre at 5:30 p.m.

Director/producer Robert Townsend and actor Leon will be in attendance for a screening of the documentary ‘Making the Five Heartbeats.’

Townsend is highly regarded as a pioneer in independent film-making, he’s most famous projects include Hollywood Shuffle, Holiday Heart and Little Richard.

The Making of the Five Heartbeats gives a behind the scenes look at the making of the 1991 cult classic.

There will be a VIP Reception with Townsend and Leon at 5:30 and a screening at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $125 for VIP treatment and $25 to see the film.

Proceeds will go toward the Greater Cleveland Film Festival set to take place September 12-20 at Shaker Cinemas in Cleveland.
