CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - 39-year-old Jeremy Cruz of Elyria was taken into custody on April 18, around 3:30 a.m.
According to the FBI, Cruz had been in online communication with a 14-year-old girl who was missing in California.
The Santa Maria Police Department discovered the contact initially; Cleveland FBI, Sheffield and Avon PD got involved shortly after.
According to the FBI, Cruz was arrested without incident at his Sheffield Lake home; the 14-year-old girl was also present.
Police ran a digital forensic examination on Cruz’s cell phone and found several photos believed to be child pornography.
He has been charged with interstate transport of child pornography and is set to appear in court in Friday, April 26.
