CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The wait was agonizing but Dwayne Haskins was finally drafted by Washington with the 15th overall pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.
Haskins was the 3rd quarterback taken, behind Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray (1st to Arizona) and Duke’s Daniel Jones (6th to New York Giants).
Haskins went 13-1 in his only season as a starter for Ohio State, throwing 50 TD passes.
He’s the first Buckeye QB drafted since Cardale Jones went to Buffalo in 2016.
Haskins could have a chance to play quickly, as incumbent starter Alex Smith broke his leg and is likely to miss the entire 2019 season.
Colt McCoy, formerly of the Browns, is #1 on the Washington depth chart.
