More victims attacked by three pit bulls in Akron are speaking out
Owner has history of failing to control her dogs
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - The owner, Diane Yankie, of several dogs that attacked a woman and the good Samaritan who came to her aid appeared in court today.
This isn’t the first time she’s been in trouble because of her dogs.
Yankie clearly had nothing to say to our cameras outside of the courtroom of her pre-trial.
"You have any questions, talk to my attorney,” Yankie told 19 News.
Hannah Catlett brought you the story about the first victim who was attacked while working.
However, the dogs continued their assault on more people, including Will Zaslevzky.
“One of them got my arm, got my leg. At some point they kinda gave up and took off,” said Zaslevzky.
The pack then took off, later attacking Katie Schultheis.
“I was trying to fight him off and the other two were biting me on my butt and my leg,” said Schultheis.
Both were in court today to see Yanke answer to a judge.
Turns out she faced charges in three similar cases prior to this attack involving the same dogs.
Her pre-trial was continued yet again.
"This is our second continuance here. It's getting frustrating. It sounds like she's probably gonna get another slap on the wrist," said Zaslevzky.
"She doesn't care at all. She was mad she had to be here today," said Schultheis.
The dogs weren't given another chance, all three were put down.
“I’m never happy in that situation. The dogs were the victims too in this. This is a bad dog owner,” siad Zaslevzky.
Despite all of this, Yankie still owns at least one dog in the neighborhood.
