CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Witnesses say a fully-clothed man jumped into Lake Erie near Voinovich Park on Monday afternoon, triggering a coordinated search effort among Cleveland firefighters, U.S. Coast Guard members and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

According to Cleveland Fire Lt. Mike Norman, the man left his wallet and phone on a dock before leaping into the water.

A helicopter, rescue boats and dive teams were deployed to aid the search, but after a few hours, the crews had to call off the operation due to darkness.

ODNR will pick up the search on Tuesday morning.
