ASHTABULA, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found early Sunday morning.

Deputies say Rhonda Beduhn was walking on state route 534 Saturday night when a driver hit her and took off.

Lisa Linehan saw the aftermath.

“She was laying on the side of the road on the shoulder next to the guardrail,” she said.

It’s unclear how long she’d been laying near the intersection of Harpersfield Road when someone found her early Sunday morning.

“It was very obviously a crime scene,” Linehan said. “They had markers out next to her shoes on the side of the road, and they were measuring taking pictures.”

Linehan says Beduhn’s shoes were laying at least six feet away from her.

She says people exercise along the road, but something lead her to believe that’s not what Beduhn was doing.

“She had a purse. Her purse was next to her, so she wasn’t jogging,” Linehan said.

Now, police are looking for the suspect they say left the scene.

The sheriff’s office says its going to give 19 News more information Monday.
