14 hour-standoff ends Monday morning after Geauga County man barricaded himself inside home

GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A man barricaded himself inside his home on Sunday, according to the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident ended Monday morning when the man fled the scene. He was arrested after a short chase around 6 a.m. Monday.

According to Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand, police got a call from a resident who claimed the suspect rammed into her car and smashed the windows of her vehicle.

When police arrived he barricaded himself into his home, threatening to shoot.

The suspect fled the scene just after 5:30 a.m. He took off in a Jeep at about 35 mph, he was arrested shortly after.

SWAT is on scene with Geauga County deputies for a man who barricaded himself inside his home on Chardon Road near Calico Lane. The street is currently blocked off.

According to the sheriff, there was no one else inside the home.
