SHEFFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio (WOIO) - A massive fire destroyed a Sheffield Village business early Wednesday morning.
Drone 19 was above the scene where all that’s left of Statement Limousine is a charred pile of rubble, and one limo.
On the ground, you can see the skeletons of the stretch limos and party buses. Owner, Karl Guenther, told 19 News,“I built this building from the ground up.”
That was only three years ago.
Just after 4:30 a.m., Guenther got the dreadful call that his business literally went up in flames.
The fire was so intense that 39 firefighters from several departments were called to the scene.
“The important thing is no one is in the building. Nobody got hurt. and that’s what I’m most thankful for. My vehicles can be replaced,” said Guenther. He says Statement Limousine is known for having Cleveland’s biggest party bus holding 50 people. Now, it’s buried somewhere in the ashes.
Guenther says the support from other limo companies has really helped him get through this day. "Without them, I’m sorry. It’s emotional. I mean three-and-a-half years we built this business with four cars to 12 and in the blink of an eye it’s gone,” said Guenther.
Guenther has clients booked well into 2020 and he promises he won’t let them down.
“I’ll move heaven and earth to make sure my clients are taken care of. We will rebuild and we’re gonna come back stronger than we were before,” he said.
There’s a GoFundMe page on the business’s Facebook page. In the meantime, he’s borrowing limos for clients who are booked for the next two weekends and he’s looking ahead. His 18 employees will still be working as normal.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
